A lot of exercise is mindless; you can have music or the radio on and not be aware. But if you’re aware in anything you do – and it doesn’t have to be yoga – it changes you. Being present changes you.
- Mariel Hemingway
Reflection:
The holiday season is a time of joy, a celebration of lights and fraught with expectation. Seeing old friends, reuniting with family, holiday shopping, holiday cooking is one part of the season. Than we have end of year quotas to hit, work performance reviews, money concerns, New Year resolutions, over-scheduling and the worlds collide. It is hard to remain present. Block time out for yourself on your schedule BEFORE the madness begins. You don’t need to know what you are doing. Simply schedule ME time.
Ideas…
1. Watch a mindless TV program or read a book just for fun.
2. Get a NEW great workout in.
3. Make an appointment to meet with a friend you have been meaning to catch up with.
4. Get a massage.
5. Go for a walk and see your local holiday lights at off-peak hours
Even if you have to get up early one day to do it, do it.
Take time to BE.
