I am branding 2011 – The Year of Flight.

2010 was a challenging year in many ways. It was the year I discovered what a panic attack was. (Don’t try it at home.) My year started optimistically and one day I had the rug pulled out from under my feet. The emotional sucker punch left me reeling. The experience forced me to let go of lots of preconceived notions and belief systems that unbeknownst to me were constraining my growth. Letting go was hard to do but necessary. The Exit Interview helps and that was only the tip of the iceberg.

Sitting in the depths of my sadness, it was dark.  I had nothing to hold on to but hope and faith. I’m not talking about spirituality. I’m referencing my hope that if I kept one foot moving before the other, I would walk to where I was needed most.

I diligently held on to my faith, in myself, that I will inevitably pull through this hardship. The most vulnerable part of standing alone, in the dark, is the loss of confidence as to whether there is light ahead.

On my journey, I embraced my fears. I started new projects. I discovered who my friends were. I learned to know my family better.  I understood my own strength.  Having had to reinvent myself several times in this lifetime, I can share there is always light.

Take ONE day at a time and stay in the day you are in. The next day will come and you will walk through that day as well. Before you know it, you will have made it through the week. You just have to walk bravely thru the darkness to get to the other side.

I had already put 2010 behind me in many ways even before the New Year arrived. It’s a worthy and symbolic gesture to turn the page in the calendar and feel NEW. This Year 2011  I am branding the Year of Flight.

I want to encourage us all to take on this year with clarity and freedom. Put the past behind you. Work through your present day challenges one progressive step at a time. Think outside of the box and LIVE your dreams as you were once afraid to. Yes, there will be setbacks but there will also be opportunities to triumph over adversity. Remember setbacks are part of Life. Think of it as a test. How else would you know whether you have learned your lessons well?

Stay in the Light. We all know the dark is there but you don’t need to live in that space. I’m okay with the occasional visit.  I don’t believe my parents made sacrifices raising me so I would grow to become a sad angry broken man. We must honor our ancestors by refining our Focus on living with respect. courage and dignity.

The Perspiration Journal© will be devoted to helping share news, stories, information to inspire you to soar.

The Future is Unwritten

1. Set Goals for yourself

2. Put your Goals to a time table and make it measurable.

3. Be Brave. So what if you fail. Everyone fails. The point is to learn something about yourself and start anew.

4. Share your Goals and create a community of support to make it happen. We never accomplish our vision quests without accountability.

Some of my goals are to go camping in Yosemite, be more focused about my business, run the New Jersey marathon, go to Austria, know when to say when I’ve had enough before I’m drowning, and have more FUN in general.

I will share more later and tell you how I plan to get this done step by step. I have already shown my marathon training schedule in K Fit.

I love music and pictures. Here is my farewell to the past and my HELLO to 2011. The video was shot in New Zealand. When I shot it, I was unsure how I would use the footage. Now, I see why I shot it. Again, HOPE and FAITH. It is a perfect metaphor.

Please if you are reading this, start commenting, feel free to declare your goals here.
